WIP/ 5 Days Through Yosemite’s High Country Starting and ending at Tuolumne Meadows, this 5-day High Sierra loop traces some of Yosemite’s most iconic backcountry terrain. With a total distance of 83 km, we hiked east, ascending to Vogelsang Lake, descended deep into the canyon toward Merced Lake, then climbed our way up to Clouds Rest with a 360 view on Half Dome Yosemite Valley then Sunrise and Cathedral Lakes before looping back around. Five days of ancient pine forests, glacial lakes, towering granite peaks, and moments of solitude held by the sounds of the wilderness. Each day brought a new challenge; 1000m ascents, swarms of mosquitoes, icy high-altitude passes, and heart-pounding terrain. We moved through it all carrying everything we needed on our backs, filtering water from streams, braving cold waterfall soaks, and falling asleep under skies made only possible by the wilderness.
